A statement from Magdalen Bish & John Bish

Yesterday, we traveled 3 1/2 hours to the small rural town of Randolf in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont. We went to attend the 7th day Vigil of missing 12 year old Brooke Bennett. We came to support and give “hope” to a family like ours in great pain of the unknown. But only moments after our arrival, our emotions changed to raw grief and outrage, as we were told that only 30 minutes before Brooke’s body was found in the back yard of her uncle’s home. Her uncle an accused sex offender, reoffended and this time he murdered this beautiful 12 years old, after he took her into his home and initiated her into a sex ring. Her step dad was also involved in manipulating her “My Space” to mislead detectives and admitted to downloading pornography.

“Not one more child” or family should have to carry this burden of horrific loss.

What can we do? We can call upon our US Senators to pass the Bill S 1738 “The Child Exploitation Act” along with the “Internet Crimes against Children Bill” so law enforcement is adequately funded to track and prosecute these monsters. Vermont investigators agreed they needed funding to assist them in stopping these crimes. Statistics tell us these sex rings are located across this country, real danger exists!

We made buttons for the Bennett family, where a smiling Brooke smiled back at us; her family will not be able to see that smile again. For Brooke and her family let’s stop the madness!

It is time to act immediately! Please support the Passage of this important Bill.
