Samantha's Motto:
Be Brave

The Joyful Child is dedicated to protecting our nation's children from sexual abuse and abduction through programs that unite and uplift communities.

NOT ONE MORE CHILD:
It Takes a Community to Protect Our Children

The Joyful Child Foundation is a proud partner in the “Not One More Child” Child Safety Initiative. Contact us to learn how to train Initiative instructors in your community to empower children and parents to stop the cycle of violence.

Not One More Child

The Initiative partners train volunteers from community partner agencies to become certified instructors to create local ownership of the Initiative and reasonable independence and sustainability. The programs compliment community policing efforts as well as parental engagement and violence reduction programs in schools. Recommended Initiative Certification Training participants include the following: law enforcement officers, teachers and other educators, passionate parents and volunteers as well as family resource providers and counselors.

FOR PARENTS AND ADULT VOLUNTEERS:
Samantha’s PRIDE Neighborhood Child Protection Program
The PRIDE Program is patterned after the example of a lion’s pride whereby all of the adults work together to keep a vigilant watch outside to protect the young from predators. PRIDE Program Facilitators offer public presentations focused on raising awareness and prevention education as well as an opportunity to join a Neighborhood PRIDE to ensure continued vigilance for child protection. Similar to the Neighborhood Watch model, PRIDE Members submit a background check application and take an oath to work together to model safe parenting behaviors and provide outdoor supervision of children before and after school, at community events and parks.

For more information about the initiative, to request a PRIDE Neighborhood Child Protection Meeting or sign up for a Southern California radKIDS class please contact us at 1-866-756-9385 or e-mail us.

WHAT IS THE JOYFUL CHILD FOUNDATION (TJCF)?

The Joyful Child Foundation—In Memory of Samantha Runnion (TJCF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 2002 after the abduction, molestation and murder of five-year-old Samantha Runnion. TJCF is dedicated to raising awareness about child sexual abuse and abduction while facilitating proactive community organizing to give everyone an opportunity to participate in the national movement to stop these horrible crimes against children.

WHAT IS Samantha’s PRIDE?

Launched in California in January 2004, Samantha’s PRIDE is the first program of TJCF. Samantha’s PRIDE is a neighborhood child protection program with free training and materials to empower neighbors to protect children from sexual abuse and abduction. Parents volunteer to wear PRIDE Protector vests to watch children outside in public view, at neighborhood events, playing or walking to or from school.
